not caring how will we be received
like naive children seeing a candy
doing what felt like it was trendy

others were watching in horror
ankle-deep in mud without encore
we were blinded, smiling on
singing our stupid song

glare in our blindfolded eyes
did we really control our lives?
how can we tell it was real
and that no heart we didn't steal -
when it ended before it has started?
joke's on us, we were outsmarted

this nuisance has to stop!
are we finally willing to do so?
and reach for the lifeboat
instead of assigning a scapegoat?
